Miles Congreve, Chief Scientific Officer of Isomorphic Labs to join Arctoris Scientific Advisory Board
Oxford, UK and Boston, USA. 25 September 2024. Arctoris (‘Arctoris’ or ‘the Company’), a leading contract research organisation (CRO) advancing drug discovery experimentation through its unique automated laboratory and data science platform, Ulysses®, today at FBLD (Fragment–Based Lead Discovery Conference), Boston, USA, announced its strategic partnership with AI drug discovery company, Isomorphic Labs, an autonomous subsidiary of Alphabet formed from Google DeepMind in 2021.
As part of the partnership, Miles Congreve, Chief Scientific Officer of Isomorphic Labs, will join the Arctoris Scientific Advisory Board.
About the partnership agreement
The partnership will support a variety of Isomorphic Labs research initiatives that utilise cutting-edge AI methods for rational drug design to advance Isomorphic Labs’ mission to ultimately develop new life-changing treatments for patients.
Arctoris will generate large-scale, systematic protein-ligand interaction experimental datasets using its Ulysses® automation platform. These high-quality datasets will be used to train and validate Isomorphic Labs’ AI models and support its drug design programs and research efforts.
Tom Fleming, CEO of Arctoris, commented: “It’s a pleasure and privilege to partner alongside the extraordinary Isomorphic Labs as they progress their mission to reimagine the entire drug discovery process. The future of robotic and AI-driven drug discovery will be defined by a powerful synergy between automated laboratories, like Arctoris’ Ulysses platform, and advanced computational approaches. This symbiotic relationship will drive unprecedented advancements in the speed, accuracy, and success of drug discovery, ultimately ushering in a new era of personalised, precision medicines that can transform patient lives worldwide.”
About Miles Congreve
Miles Congreve is Chief Scientific Officer at Isomorphic Labs. He has helped design 25 clinically evaluated drugs and is co-inventor of Kisqali® (Ribociclib), a marketed treatment for breast cancers.
Prior to his tenure at Isomorphic Labs, Miles pioneered Structure-Based Drug Design for G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) as Chief Scientific Officer at Sosei Heptares. As Director of Chemistry at Astex Pharmaceuticals, he was instrumental in establishing Fragment-Based Drug Design as a radical new approach to small molecule lead generation. He has also been a team leader at GlaxoSmithKline in medicinal chemistry and chemical technologies.
He is a co-author of over 200 publications and patents, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2015, he was co-recipient of the RSC Malcolm Campbell Memorial Prize for the seminal contributions to GPCR drug discovery made by Sosei Heptares. Miles has a degree in biological chemistry from Leicester University and a PhD in synthetic chemistry from Cambridge University.
